KMPUD Fire Safety Seminar #3

“Creating Defensible Space and Hardening Your Home”

May 19, 2022 - 12-1pm

KMPUD's 3rd Fire Safety Seminar will feature guest speaker Michael Vollmer of the Tahoe Resource Conservation District (Tahoe RCD).

Michael's presentation will focus on the importance of creating defensible space and home hardening. His talk will include a brief review of Christmas Valley's successful wildfire preparedness work.

Michael Vollmer is a Registered Professional Forester and Certified Arborist with experience in soil science, forestry, wildland fuels management, fire adapted communities' concepts, prescribed fire, plant taxonomy, and grant management. He has over 27 years of experience in natural resource and environmental program management.

The annual Kirkwood Volunter Firefigher Fundraiser is back - IN PERSON on the plaza with food, beer, wine and music. Visit the Kirkwood Firewise Information Booth to learn more about our program and pick-up important educational materials.

Our first Kirkwood Firewise Work Day is being planned with the work location to be determined. Clean up activities will include picking up dead and down branches, raking and removing pinecones, hand trimming lower branches and removing ladder fuels.
